Famous Religious places in India
Varanasi also famously known as Kasi, Banaras, Benares, or Kashi; is the sacred capital for the hindus. Set on the banks of the river Ganga in India's northern state of Uttar Pradesh. The contemporary name of Varanasi is a derivative resulting from the two branches of Ganga River: the "Varuna" and the "Asi". The holy Varanasi has inimitable mores and traditions, quite unlike the other places of worship in India. The place is also known as one of the main cultural spots in India. The town is also the abode of the sacred shrine of Lord Kasi Viswanatha, an avatar of Shiva which is one of the 12 treasured Jyotirlingas of Shiva. The Hindus have always believed that taking a dip in the holy Ganges River or dying in Varanasi can evade rebirths and thereby presents an eternal home in heaven or Swarg. Owing to this belief, numerous Hindu corpses are disposed in the river after merely a partial cremation.Badrinath
Badrinath-being one of the four religious sites in the Char Dham pilgrimage of India, it is also known as the consecrated abode of Badrinarayan the incarnation of Lord Vishnu. The Badrinath shrine is an outstanding design structure complete with brilliant colors that stir up the Buddhist Ghompa paintings in the area. And, this has led to many believing that the temple was formerly governed by Buddhist monks.Jama Masjid
The Jama Masjid or Friday Mosque is to be found near the Crawford Market in Southern Mumbai and is said to be the biggest and most ancient mosque in the Indian capital city. This Mosque is a quadrangular structure built of stones and brick blocks that are bounded by two storied, terrace covered constructions. The chief east gateway shows the way to a very old tank that is full with water. Starting from the base of the water, 16 black curvy stone structures go up to bear the whole construction of the mosque.Tourist Spots in India
